The journey is approximately 3 hours (around 120 kilometers). Once you reach Biliran, follow the signs to Caibiran. Upon arriving in Caibiran, look for local signage pointing towards Tinago Falls. The last stretch involves navigating smaller roads, so it’s advisable to use a GPS or map application to arrive at the coordinates: HGMG+J66, Caibiran, Biliran.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a van or bus from Tacloban City to Naval, Biliran. The trip takes about 2-3 hours. Once you arrive at Naval, transfer to a local jeepney or tricycle heading to Caibiran. The fare for the van/bus is typically around PHP 150-250, while the jeepney fare to Caibiran should be about PHP 30-50. Upon reaching Caibiran, ask the driver to drop you off near the path leading to Tinago Falls. Be prepared for a short hike from the drop-off point to the falls.
Hiking
If you reach the drop-off point by jeepney or tricycle, you will need to hike approximately 15-20 minutes to reach Tinago Falls. The path can be steep and may require careful footing, so wear appropriate footwear. There are no entry fees for the falls, but it’s wise to bring some cash for snacks or any local guides if you wish to hire one.
