Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Cagayan de Oro City. Head southeast on the Cagayan de Oro - Bukidnon Road (also known as the Sayre Highway). After approximately 2 hours of driving, you will arrive in the town of Maramag, Bukidnon. Once in Maramag, follow the signs leading to Musuan. Mt. Kalayo is located in Musuan, around 10 kilometers from Maramag town center. Make sure to use a GPS navigation app to get precise directions as you approach Musuan, ensuring you stay on the correct local roads.
Bus
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Cagayan de Oro City to Maramag. Several bus companies operate this route, including Rural Transit and Bachelor Express. The travel time is approximately 3-4 hours, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the Maramag bus terminal, you can hire a local tricycle or jeepney to take you to Musuan, which is about 10 kilometers away. The fare for the tricycle ride may range from 50 to 100 PHP depending on the negotiation and the distance covered.
Tricycle/Jeepney
After reaching Maramag, you can opt for a tricycle or jeepney to Musuan. If you are taking a tricycle, it is advisable to negotiate the fare beforehand; typical fares may range from 50 to 100 PHP. Jeepneys are also available, and they are usually cheaper, costing around 20 PHP per person, but they may take longer to depart as they wait until they are full. Once you reach Musuan, ask the driver to drop you off at the foot of Mt. Kalayo, which is a popular local landmark.
