Bus
To reach Serra do Buçaco from Aveiro, start by making your way to the Aveiro Bus Station (Terminal Rodoviário de Aveiro). You can walk there from the city center; it's about a 15-minute walk. Head south on Rua 31 de Janeiro until you reach Praça da República. From there, continue straight onto Avenida Dr. Lourenço Peixinho, and you will arrive at the bus station. Once at the station, purchase a ticket for a bus heading to 'Buçaco' or 'Luso'. The bus ride will take approximately 45 minutes. After arriving at the bus stop in Luso, follow the signs to Serra do Buçaco, which is about a 20-minute walk uphill from the bus stop.
Train and Bus
Begin your journey at the Aveiro Train Station (Estação de Comboios de Aveiro). From the station, take a train heading to Coimbra. Once you arrive at Coimbra, transfer to the bus station nearby (Coimbra Rodoviária). Look for a bus heading towards 'Luso' or 'Buçaco'. The bus ride will take around 30 minutes. After disembarking at Luso, follow the signs to Serra do Buçaco, which is a 20-minute walk uphill.
Walking
For the more adventurous, you can hike to Serra do Buçaco from Aveiro. Start at the city center and follow Rua 31 de Janeiro towards the north. After about 1.5km, you will reach the small town of Luso. From Luso, you can find the trails that lead up to Serra do Buçaco. The hiking paths are well-marked and will take approximately 1-2 hours to reach the peak, depending on your pace. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and carry water.
