If you are driving from the Douro Valley, head towards the A24 highway. Take the A24 from any point in the valley and follow signs for Vila Real. Merge onto the A4 towards Amarante. After approximately 30 km, take exit 10 toward A28/Maia/Porto. Continue on the A28 for about 40 km and take exit 24 towards Esposende. Follow the signs for Praia de Fao. The beach will be on your right. The total drive time is about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Start your journey by taking a train from Peso da Régua to Porto São Bento station. The train ride takes about 2 hours. Once at Porto São Bento, transfer to the Metro Line A (Blue Line) towards Senhor de Matosinhos. Get off at the Matosinhos station. From Matosinhos, take the Bus 500 towards Esposende and get off at the Praia de Fao stop. The total travel time is approximately 3 hours, including transfers and waiting times.
