Car
If you are driving, start from the town of Peso da Régua, which is a central point in Douro. Head northeast on N222 road, following the signs for Vila Real. After approximately 16 kilometers, you will reach the junction with N313. Turn right onto N313. Continue for about 10 kilometers until you see signs for Penedo Durão Viewpoint. The viewpoint has a dedicated parking area where you can safely leave your car.
Public Transportation
To reach Penedo Durão Viewpoint using public transport, take a train from Peso da Régua to the town of Pocinho. The train journey takes about 30 minutes. From Pocinho, there are local buses that can take you towards the viewpoint. Check local schedules for the most recent bus timings, as they can vary. Make sure to confirm that the bus stops at the Penedo Durão Viewpoint. The total cost of the train ticket is approximately 3-5 Euros, and the bus fare is usually around 2 Euros.
Walking
If you are already near Pocinho and prefer walking, you can trek to Penedo Durão Viewpoint. From Pocinho, follow the riverside path that leads towards the viewpoint. The walk is about 4 kilometers and offers beautiful views of the Douro River. It should take around 1 hour to complete. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as it can be a bit strenuous.
