From Faro city center, head to the Faro Bus Station located near the train station. Take the bus number 14 towards Tavira. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Once you arrive in Tavira, get off at the Tavira Terminal bus stop. From there, walk towards the town center, following the signs to 'Castelo de Tavira'. It’s about a 10-minute walk. Head north on Rua da Liberdade, continue onto Rua Dr. José Pires, and then turn right onto Largo Abu-Otmane where the castle is located.
Train and Walk
From Faro, go to the Faro Train Station. Purchase a ticket for Tavira, which is a short ride of approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Tavira Train Station, exit and walk towards the town center. Take the main road (Avenida da Liberdade) heading north. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout, then take the second exit onto Rua da Liberdade. Continue walking straight until you turn left onto Rua Dr. José Pires, and finally turn right onto Largo Abu-Otmane to reach Castelo de Tavira.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from any location in Faro. Simply ask the driver to take you to 'Castelo de Tavira, Largo Abu-Otmane'. The journey will take around 30 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure to confirm the fare before starting your journey.
Walking
If you are close to Tavira and prefer to walk, you can navigate through the streets of Tavira. Start from the Tavira Terminal bus stop or the Tavira Train Station, and head towards the center of town. Follow signs to the 'Castelo de Tavira' or use a smartphone map.
