Getting There

  • Walking

    From the historic center of Guimarães, head southwest on Rua de São Bento towards the Praça de São Tiago. Continue straight until you reach the main square, Praça da Oliveira. From there, follow the signs pointing towards the train station (Estação de Guimarães). Once at the train station, take the train towards Porto and get off at the next stop, which is the train station in Vila Nova de Gaia. After exiting the station, turn right onto Rua de Dom Manuel I and walk straight until you reach the riverbank. Follow the riverbank promenade (Cais de Gaia) until you see the signs for Jardim do Morro. The garden is located on a hill with stunning views of the Douro River and Porto.

    From Guimarães, make your way to the bus terminal (Terminal Rodoviário de Guimarães) located near the city center. Take a bus to Vila Nova de Gaia; buses run frequently.
