Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Lamego, head towards Praça da República. Walk straight along Rua da República until you reach the intersection with Rua de Santo António. Turn right onto Rua de Santo António and continue straight. After a few blocks, you will reach the main square, where you can see the stunning Lamego Cathedral. Continue past the Cathedral and follow the signs directing you to Peso da Régua. You will walk downhill and cross the bridge over the river. Once you reach the other side, you will be on the N-222 road. At this point, you can either take a bus or continue walking. If you choose to walk, follow the N-222 road along the river for approximately 12 kilometers until you arrive at Peso da Régua. The Douro Museum is located at Edifício Museu do Douro, R. do Marquês de Pombal, which you will see on your left as you approach the town center.

    From the main bus station in Lamego, take the bus to Peso da Régua. Buses run frequently throughout the day and the journey takes about 30 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the latest timings. Once you arrive at the bus station in Peso da Régua, exit the station and walk straight ahead on Av. de Cândido dos Reis. Turn right onto Rua do Marquês de Pombal, and the Douro Museum will be on your left at Edifício Museu do Douro.
