Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are already in Bairro Alto, head towards Rua da Misericórdia. Walk downhill until you reach the intersection with Rua da Barroca. Turn left onto Rua da Barroca and continue straight until you reach the Largo do Camões. Praça Luís de Camões is directly ahead, marked by the large square and the statue in the middle.

  • Funicular

    From Bairro Alto, you can also take the famous Bica Funicular (Elevador da Bica) to get to the lower areas of the city. Board the tram at the base of Rua da Bica, and enjoy the ride down. Once you reach the bottom at Rua de São Paulo, walk straight towards Largo do Camões, which will be a 5-10 minute walk away. Note that the fare for the funicular is around €3.50.

    For a slightly longer route, you can catch bus number 758 from a stop near your location in Bairro Alto. Look for the 'Bairro Alto' bus stop and board the bus towards 'Cais do Sodré.' Get off at the 'Cais do Sodré' stop and from there, it is a 10-minute walk to Praça Luís de Camões. The bus fare is approximately €1.50.
