From Portimão, head southeast on Avenida Tomás Cabreira towards Rua do Comércio. Continue to follow the road for approximately 5 km. As you approach Alvor, keep an eye out for signs for Alvor/João d'Arens. Turn right onto Caminho da Praia do João d'Arens. Gruta das Baratas will be on your left after a short drive, with parking available nearby.

From there, walk in the direction of the beach, following the signs for Praia do João d'Arens. Gruta das Baratas is located along the Caminho da Praia do João d'Arens, approximately a 15-minute walk from the bus stop. Ensure to check the bus schedules for return trips.
