Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from the center of Portimão, start by heading southwest on Av. 25 de Abril toward Rua do Comércio. Continue straight to stay on Av. 25 de Abril, and then turn left onto Rua das Oliveiras. Follow this road until you reach the N125 road, where you will turn right to continue on N125. After approximately 6 km, take the exit toward Alvor. Follow signs for Alvor, and then turn right onto Caminho da Praia do João d'Arens. You will find parking options near the beach area. Be aware that parking may incur a fee, especially during peak tourist season.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Ponta João de Arens by public transport, you can take a bus from Portimão. Look for the bus service that runs to Alvor, which is operated by EVA Transportes. The bus stop in Portimão is near the train station. Purchase a ticket from the kiosk or onboard the bus. The journey takes about 20-30 minutes. Once you arrive in Alvor, disembark at the Alvor stop and walk towards the beach. Follow the signs toward Caminho da Praia do João d'Arens, which is a short walk from the bus stop. The bus fare is approximately €2-€3.

• Walking

  If you are already in Alvor and prefer to walk, head towards the coast from the town center. Start at the main square and walk southwest along Rua da Praia until you reach the beach. Continue along the scenic coastal path, which leads directly to Ponta João de Arens. This route offers beautiful views and takes about 30-40 minutes on foot. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes, as the path may have uneven surfaces.
