    From Porto, head to São Bento Train Station. You can take the Metro Line D (Yellow Line) from any central station, such as Aliados or Trindade, directly to São Bento. Once at São Bento, purchase a ticket to Guimarães at the ticket counter or machine. Trains to Guimarães run frequently; check the schedule for the next departure. The train journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive at Guimarães train station, exit the station and walk straight along Avenida de Conde de Margaride for about 10 minutes. The Guimarães Castle will be on your right, located on R. Conde Dom Henrique.

  • Bus

    At Campo 24 de Agosto, take the Metro Line A (Blue Line) from any nearby station to Campo 24 de Agosto station. From there, exit the Metro and head to the bus terminal. Look for the bus company Rede Expressos or Linha, which offers direct services to Guimarães. Purchase your ticket at the kiosk or directly from the driver. The bus journey will take about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once you arrive in Guimarães, walk straight along Avenida da Liberdade and then turn left on R. Conde Dom Henrique. The castle will be on your left after about 5 minutes.
