Train
To reach Quinta da Aveleda in Penafiel from Porto, start by heading to São Bento Train Station in the city center. Purchase a ticket to Penafiel at the ticket counter or vending machines. Once you board the train, enjoy the scenic ride which takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Disembark at Penafiel station. From the station, you can either take a taxi directly to Rua da Aveleda 2, which is about a 10-minute ride, or if you prefer walking, exit the station and walk straight down Avenida dos Descobrimentos until you reach Rua da Aveleda. The winery will be on your left.
Bus
From Porto, you can also take a bus to Penafiel. Head to the Campo 24 de Agosto bus station. Look for buses heading to Penafiel—companies like Rede Expressos and others operate this route. The journey will take about 40-50 minutes. After arriving at the Penafiel bus terminal, take a taxi to Quinta da Aveleda, which is about 5-10 minutes away. Alternatively, you can walk by heading east on Rua 1 de Maio, then turn right onto Rua da Aveleda, where the winery is located at number 2.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous and want to cycle, you can rent a bicycle in Porto. Head east out of the city toward Penafiel, which is around 30km away. Use the N15 road that connects Porto to Penafiel. It can be a bit challenging due to traffic, so ensure you're comfortable with cycling on roads. Once you arrive in Penafiel, navigate to Rua da Aveleda; the winery is located at number 2. Don’t forget to check the opening hours before your visit!
