Follow the signs for Marão, which will lead you through beautiful mountainous scenery. As you ascend, keep an eye out for the signs indicating the Observatório do Marão. The observatory is located at the top of the mountain, approximately 30 minutes from Amarante. Once you reach the observatory, there is a parking area available for visitors.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transportation, start by taking a bus from Porto to Amarante. The journey takes about 1 hour and costs approximately €5-€7. Once in Amarante, you can catch a local taxi to take you up to the Observatório do Marão. The taxi ride will cost around €20-€30, and it takes about 30 minutes to reach the observatory from Amarante.
