Walking
From the center of Sintra, start at the Sintra Train Station. Head northwest on Avenida Dr. Miguel Bombarda, which will turn into Rua da Padaria. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Estrada da Praia das Maçãs. Turn right and walk until you reach the bus stop for the 440 bus to Colares. Board the bus and enjoy the scenic ride, which takes about 20 minutes. Get off at the Colares bus stop. From there, walk towards the main road, Estrada do Guincho. Continue straight and follow the signs for Praia da Ursa. The trailhead is located near the end of the road, where you will find a sign indicating the path to the beach. It is a steep descent, so be prepared for a hike. The trail takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the beach.
Bus
From Sintra, walk to the Sintra Train Station and take the 440 bus towards Colares. The ride takes about 20 minutes. Once you arrive in Colares, get off at the last stop. Walk towards the Estrada do Guincho and follow the signs for Praia da Ursa. The trailhead is located near the end of the road, marked with a sign. Follow the trail down to the beach, which should take around 30 minutes. Be cautious as the path can be steep in some areas.
Combination of Walking and Hiking
Start your journey from the Sintra center by walking towards the Sintra Train Station. Once there, take the 440 bus to Colares. After approximately 20 minutes, get off at the Colares stop. Walk towards Estrada do Guincho, keeping an eye out for signs leading to Praia da Ursa. The trail to the beach starts at the end of the road. The descent to Praia da Ursa requires a bit of effort, taking roughly 30 minutes. Ensure you wear good hiking shoes as the terrain can be uneven.
