Getting There

• Walking

  If you are in the historical center of Sintra, start at the Sintra Railway Station. From the station, head towards the main street, Rua Dr. Alfredo da Costa. Continue straight until you reach the Praça da República. Once you arrive at the square, look for the signs that lead to the Palacio Nacional de Sintra. Walk past the palace and take a left onto Rua da Ferraria. Follow the street as it turns into Estrada da Pena. Continue walking for about 15-20 minutes, and you will arrive at the entrance of the National Palace of Pena.

• Bus

  From the Sintra Railway Station, you can take the bus number 434, which is specifically designed for tourists visiting the main attractions. Board the bus, and it will take you directly to the National Palace of Pena. The bus ride takes approximately 15 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the return journey, as it can vary throughout the day.

• Tuk-Tuk

  For a unique experience, consider taking a tuk-tuk from the Sintra Railway Station or Praça da República. Multiple operators are available, and the ride to the National Palace of Pena will take around 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. This option allows you to enjoy the scenic views as you travel.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in the center of Sintra. From the historical center, head towards Rua Dr. Alfredo da Costa and follow the same route as you would by walking. Cycling to the National Palace of Pena takes about 10-15 minutes, depending on your pace. Be careful on the steep sections, especially as you approach the palace.
