Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Tomar, start at the main square (Praça da República). Head south on Rua da Liberdade and continue until you reach the intersection with Avenida Cândido Madureira. Turn left onto Avenida Cândido Madureira and walk straight for about 600 meters until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto N110, heading towards the direction of São Mamede. After about 1 kilometer, you will see signs for Grutas da Moeda (Coin Caves). Follow the signs, and after about 1.5 kilometers, you will arrive at R. das Grutas da Moeda, where the Coin Caves are located.

  • Public Transport (Bus)

    From the main bus station in Tomar (Terminal Rodoviário de Tomar), take the bus heading towards São Mamede. Buses run approximately every hour. The journey takes about 15-20 minutes. Get off at the 'Grutas da Moeda' stop. From there, it is a short walk (approximately 500 meters) to the Coin Caves. Follow the signs leading to R. das Grutas da Moeda.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Tomar. Start from the main square (Praça da República) and head south on Rua da Liberdade, then turn left onto Avenida Cândido Madureira. Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto N110, towards São Mamede. The total distance is about 3 kilometers, and it should take around 15-20 minutes to reach the Coin Caves by bike.
