Getting There

Walking
If you are in the center of Tomar, start at Praça da República, a central square with cafes and shops. From there, head east on Rua da Liberdade until you reach the roundabout. Continue straight onto Rua de Portugal. Follow this road until you see the signs for 'Castelo de Tomar.' As you approach, you will come to a steep incline leading up to the castle. The entrance is located at Estr. do Convento 8, where you will find the ticket office and the main entrance to the castle.

Public Transport
From the Tomar train station, exit and walk towards the main road, Av. Dr. João Rato. Catch the local bus (Bus 2) heading towards 'Convento de Cristo.' The bus will take you directly to the Convento de Cristo stop, which is very close to the castle entrance on Estr. do Convento. After getting off, walk up the path towards the castle entrance.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Tomar. Start from the center and follow the bike path on Av. Marquês de Tomar towards Estr. do Convento.
