Walking
If you are located in Vila Real city center, head towards the main square, Praça da República. From there, walk northwest along Rua da Misericórdia until you reach the intersection with Avenida 10 de Junho. Turn left and continue straight until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto N2 towards Lamego. Follow the road signs indicating Lamego. Once you arrive at Lamego, continue along Rua da República until it merges with Rua de Pêro da Covilhã. Follow this road until you see signs for Bairro do Castelo. The castle is located on a hill; you may need to follow the pedestrian paths leading up to the castle entrance.
Public Transport
From Vila Real bus station, board a bus heading to Lamego. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Lamego bus station, exit and head towards the main road, Rua da República. Walk straight until you reach the intersection with Rua de Pêro da Covilhã, then turn left. Continue following the road signs to Bairro do Castelo. The castle is situated on a hill, so be prepared for a short uphill walk.
Taxi or Rideshare
If you prefer a more direct route, you can call a taxi from Vila Real or use a rideshare app. Provide the driver with the address 'Bairro do Castelo, 5100-150 Lamego.' The drive should take around 25 minutes. Once dropped off, follow the pedestrian paths to the castle entrance, which is located on the hill.
