From the city center of Viseu, head to the Viseu Bus Station (Terminal Rodoviário de Viseu), which is located at Rua da Liberdade. You can take bus line 8 towards São Mamede. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Make sure to ask the driver to notify you when you reach the stop for Grutas da Moeda. Once you get off, follow the signs leading to the caves, which is a short 10-minute walk.

If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Viseu. Just provide the driver with the address: R. das Grutas da Moeda, 2495-028 São Mamede. The drive will take about 20 minutes depending on traffic. Taxis are available at various points in the city center, or you can call one using a local taxi service.

Walking
For those feeling adventurous and wanting to explore, you can walk to Grutas da Moeda from the city center. Start at Praça da República and head southeast towards Rua da Liberdade. Continue to R. de Almedina and follow it until you reach the main road, N2. Turn left onto N2 and follow the road for approximately 6 km. The caves will be on your right. This walk is about 1.5 hours, so wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated!
