The Majestic Obelisco de Cabo Rojo: A Coastal Landmark

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are staying in the Cabo Rojo town area, start by heading west on Calle José de Diego towards Calle Loíza. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Carretera 100. Turn right onto Carretera 100 and walk for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Carretera 308. Turn left onto Carretera 308, and continue walking for about 1 kilometer. The Obelisco de Cabo Rojo will be on your right side at 80 Carretera 308. Look for the tall obelisk structure as a landmark.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  From the main square in Cabo Rojo, locate the bus stop for the local 'guagua' (public bus). Take the bus that heads towards San Germán. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the stop for Carretera 308. After approximately 15-20 minutes, you will arrive at the intersection of Carretera 308. Once you get off, walk about 500 meters north on Carretera 308, and you will see the Obelisco de Cabo Rojo on your left.

• Bicycle Rental

  If you prefer to bike, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Cabo Rojo. Start by cycling west on Calle José de Diego towards Carretera 100. Turn right onto Carretera 100 and continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers. At the intersection with Carretera 308, turn left and ride for approximately 1 kilometer. The Obelisco de Cabo Rojo will be on your right. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow local traffic rules while cycling.
