If you're staying in Cabo Rojo town, start at the Plaza de Recreo José De Diego. Head southwest on PR-100 for about 1 mile until you reach the intersection with PR-102. Continue straight onto PR-102 for another 1.5 miles until you see signs for the Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Refuge. Follow the signs to the parking area. Once parked, follow the trails leading toward the coast. The entrance to Cueva Del Pirata Cofresí is accessible via marked paths. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as the trail can be rocky.

From the central bus station in Cabo Rojo, take a local guagua (shared taxi) heading towards the Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Refuge. Ask the driver to drop you off near the refuge entrance. Once you get off, follow the signs for the hiking trails leading to Cueva Del Pirata Cofresí. It’s about a 20-minute walk from the drop-off point to the cave entrance. Keep an eye out for trail markers along the path.
