If you are traveling by car, start by getting onto I-95 S from your current location in Rhode Island. Continue on I-95 S for approximately 15 miles. Take exit 9 for US-1 S toward Narragansett. Merge onto US-1 S and follow it for about 10 miles. Take the exit toward RI-138 E/Newport. Continue on RI-138 E for about 6 miles, following the signs for Newport. As you approach Newport, stay on the left to merge onto RI-238 S, which becomes Ocean Drive. Brenton Point State Park will be on your left at the address Ocean Drive, Newport, RI 02840. Parking is available on site, and there is no entrance fee.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start by taking the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus route 60 from Providence. The bus will take you to Newport, and the journey takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once you arrive in Newport, transfer to bus route 67 at the Newport Gateway Center. The 67 route will take you directly to Brenton Point State Park. Be sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time for the latest timings and any potential service changes.
