Car
Start at Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge. Head southeast on Sachuest Point Road toward RI-138. Turn left onto RI-138 and continue for approximately 5 miles. Take the exit for Route 1 South toward Narragansett. After about 10 miles, merge onto RI-1 S. Follow signs for Block Island Ferry, as you will need to take a ferry to reach Block Island. The ferry terminal is located in Point Judith, Rhode Island. Once you arrive at the ferry terminal, purchase your tickets (costs around $19 for adults and $9 for children round trip). The ferry ride to Block Island takes about 30 minutes. Upon arrival at New Shoreham, follow the signs to Block Island National Wildlife Refuge, which is about a 10-minute drive from the ferry terminal.

Public Transportation
From Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge, head to the nearest bus stop. You will need to take a Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus toward Newport. Once in Newport, transfer to the bus heading to Point Judith. The bus fare is approximately $2.00. After reaching Point Judith, walk to the Block Island Ferry terminal. Buy your ferry tickets (about $19 for adults and $9 for children round trip) and board the ferry to Block Island. The ferry ride takes roughly 30 minutes. Once on Block Island, follow the signs to Block Island National Wildlife Refuge, which is a short distance from the ferry terminal.
