Getting There

  • Car

    From Trustom Pond National Wildlife Refuge, head southwest on Succotash Road toward Matunuck Beach Road. Continue for approximately 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Route 1. Turn left onto Route 1 North and continue for about 4 miles. Take the exit toward Charlestown and merge onto Route 2. Continue on Route 2 for 2 miles, then turn right onto Burlingame State Park Road. The entrance to Burlingame State Park will be on your left. Note that there may be a parking fee at the park entrance.

  • Public Transportation

    Take the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus number 66 from the closest bus stop near Trustom Pond National Wildlife Refuge. Ride the bus towards Westerly and get off at the stop for Route 1. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1 mile south along Route 1 until you reach the intersection with Burlingame State Park Road. Turn left onto Burlingame State Park Road, and the park entrance will be on your left. Be prepared for a possible fare for the bus ride. Check the RIPTA website for the latest schedules and fares.

    For those looking to bike, start from Trustom Pond National Wildlife Refuge and head southwest on Succotash Road. Join Route 1 North, where there is a bike lane available.
