Walking
If you are in downtown Westerly, start at the intersection of High Street and Main Street. Head south on Main Street until you reach the end, then turn left onto Canal Street. Follow Canal Street as it curves into Watch Hill Road. Continue on Watch Hill Road for about 1.5 miles. You will pass through scenic areas and residential neighborhoods. As you approach Watch Hill, keep an eye out for the signs directing you to the lighthouse. Once you reach Lighthouse Road, turn right, and the lighthouse will be on your left at 14 Lighthouse Rd. It’s a beautiful walk that should take about 30-40 minutes.
Biking
For those with bicycles, you can start at the Westerly Train Station. Head south on Railroad Avenue and take a left on High Street. Follow the same route as the walking guidance, heading south on Main Street and then turning onto Canal Street. Once you reach Watch Hill Road, you can bike all the way to Lighthouse Road. The ride is about 2 miles and should take around 10-15 minutes, depending on your speed. Be aware of traffic, especially during peak tourist seasons.
Public Transport (Bus)
If you prefer public transport, check the schedule for the RIPTA bus service. You can board the bus at the Westerly Train Station. Look for a bus that heads toward Watch Hill. The bus will drop you off near the intersection of Watch Hill Road and Lighthouse Road. From there, it’s a short walk (about 10 minutes) down Lighthouse Road to the lighthouse. Please be sure to check the current bus schedule, as timings may vary.
