A brief summary to Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge

Getting There

  • Car

    Start by heading southwest on Yawgoo Valley Road toward Route 102. Turn right onto Route 102 South and follow it for approximately 6 miles. Merge onto Route 1 South via the ramp to Narragansett. Continue on Route 1 South for about 13 miles. Take the exit toward Charlestown/Richmond (Exit 9) and turn left onto Route 2 South. After about 1.5 miles, turn right onto Ninigret Park Road. Follow this road into Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge. There is no entry fee for the refuge.

  • Public Transportation

    From Yawgoo Valley Ski Area & Water Park, you can take a taxi or rideshare service to the nearest bus stop, which is on Route 102. Once there, catch the RIPTA Bus #66 (South County) that travels toward Narragansett. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop at Route 1 near Charlestown. From there, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare to take you the remaining 3 miles to Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge, as public transportation does not serve the refuge directly. Be sure to check the RIPTA schedule in advance for bus times.
