Cascada Ialomiței: A Natural Wonder in the Heart of Romania

Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving, head towards the town of Moroeni. From the center of Moroeni, take DN71 road towards Sinaia. After approximately 7 km, look for the signs indicating the route to the Ialomita Monastery. Follow the signs and take the right turn onto DJ713, which will lead you through the scenic landscape. Continue on this road for about 5 km until you see a parking area near the Ialomita Monastery. Park your car here, and from this point, the Cascada Ialomiței is approximately a 40-minute hike. Follow the marked hiking trail that leads you through the forest and to the waterfall.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Cascada Ialomiței using public transport, take a train or bus to the town of Moroeni. From Bucharest, you can take a train to Targoviste and then catch a local bus to Moroeni. Once in Moroeni, you can take a taxi or a local shuttle service to the Ialomita Monastery. From the monastery, there is a well-marked hiking trail leading to Cascada Ialomiței. Make sure to bring comfortable shoes for the hike, which takes about 40 minutes.

• Hiking

  If you're already in the Bucegi Mountains and looking for a hiking option, find your way to the Ialomita Monastery, which can be reached either by car or public transport as mentioned above. Starting from the monastery, follow the blue-marked trail that goes downhill towards the river. The path will take you through beautiful forested areas and lead directly to Cascada Ialomiței. The hike is approximately 2 km and takes around 40 minutes.
