Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from the city center of Caransebeș. Head southeast on DN6 towards the town of Băile Herculane. After approximately 30 km, take the exit towards Poiana Mărului. Continue on the local roads until you reach Poiana Mărului. Once in the village, follow the signs for Cascada Sucului. Note that the last 2 km leading to the waterfall may be steep and require a bit of effort. Make sure your vehicle is suitable for such terrain.

• Public Transportation

  For those utilizing public transportation, start by taking a train or bus from Caransebeș to the nearest town, Băile Herculane. Once there, you will need to catch a local bus or arrange for a taxi to Poiana Mărului. The local bus service may not be frequent, so check the schedule in advance. After arriving in Poiana Mărului, follow the hiking trail marked for Cascada Sucului, which is about 10 km away on foot. Be prepared for a moderately challenging hike as you will encounter steep sections.

• Hiking

  If you are already in Poiana Mărului, start your hike to Cascada Sucului by finding the marked trailhead near the village. The hike is about 10 km one way, and the terrain can be steep at times. Ensure you have proper hiking gear, plenty of water, and snacks. The trail can be a bit challenging, especially during the first and last kilometers. It is recommended to start early in the day to allow ample time for the hike, and enjoy the scenic views along the way.
