If you are driving, start your journey from the town of Hateg, which is the nearest significant urban area. From Hateg, take the DN66 road towards Petrosani. After approximately 30 kilometers, look for signs indicating the entrance to Retezat National Park. Enter the park and continue for about 15 kilometers until you reach the parking area at the base of Valea Pietrele. Parking may incur a small fee, approximately 5 RON. Follow the marked trails from the parking lot, which will lead you directly to Valea Pietrele.

For those relying on public transport, take a train or bus to Hateg from larger cities like Timisoara or Bucharest. Once in Hateg, you can find local buses that operate towards the Retezat National Park. Make sure to check the schedules, as they may vary. After reaching the park entrance, you will need to hike or use a taxi service to reach the Valea Pietrele area. The taxi fare from the park entrance to the Valea Pietrele trailhead is typically around 50-70 RON.
