Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the city of Târgu Jiu. Take DN67 towards Novaci. Once you reach Novaci, continue straight and follow the signs towards Cheile Gilortului. The journey will take approximately 45 minutes, depending on traffic. As you approach the gorge, be mindful of the winding roads. There is a parking area near the entrance to the nature preserve, where you can leave your vehicle.
Public Transportation
To reach Cheile Gilortului using public transportation, take a bus from Târgu Jiu to Novaci. Buses leave regularly from the central bus station, and the fare is around 10 RON. Once you arrive in Novaci, you can either walk towards Cheile Gilortului, which is about 3 km away, or take a local taxi for a small fee (approximately 20 RON) to the entrance of the gorge.
Walking
For those who prefer to walk from Novaci to Cheile Gilortului, you can follow the main road (DN67). The walk is approximately 3 kilometers and will take about 30-40 minutes. The path is scenic, with beautiful views of the surrounding nature, so be prepared for a pleasant hike.
