Getting There

  If you're traveling by car, start your journey from the city of Sibiu, which is approximately 80 km away from Valea Lotrului. Head southeast on DN1 towards Rășinari. Continue on DN1 until you reach the town of Cârța. From Cârța, turn onto DJ106A towards Tălmaciu. Follow this road until you reach the Unnamed Road that leads towards Valea Lotrului. The last stretch may involve some unpaved roads, so ensure your vehicle is suitable for such conditions. Upon arrival, you can park your car in designated areas.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a train from Bucharest to Sibiu. The train journey takes approximately 5-6 hours, and tickets cost around 40-80 RON depending on the class. Once you arrive in Sibiu, head to the local bus station and catch a bus towards Tălmaciu. The bus ride will take about an hour, costing around 10 RON. Get off at Tălmaciu and from there, you may need to arrange for a taxi or use a ridesharing service to reach Valea Lotrului, as public transport to this specific location is limited. The taxi fare should be around 50-70 RON.

  If you prefer a direct route from Sibiu to Valea Lotrului, you can opt for a taxi or a ridesharing service (like Uber or Bolt). This option is more expensive, typically costing between 150-200 RON for the trip. This way, you’ll be dropped off right at the entrance of Valea Lotrului.
