Getting There
Car
If you are traveling by car on the Transfagarasan Highway (DN7C), continue driving until you reach the area near Arefu. Look for signs indicating 'Lacul Vidraru' as you approach the dam. Once you see signs for the Vidraru Dam, take the exit towards the dam. Drive along the road towards the lake; it will take approximately 10-15 minutes to reach the parking area near the lake. Note that there may be a small parking fee, which is usually around 5 RON (Romanian Lei).
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, take a train to the nearest station, which is at Curtea de Arges. From Curtea de Arges, you will need to catch a local bus or taxi to reach Arefu. Buses may not run frequently, so it's advisable to check the local schedule ahead of time. The bus ride will take about 30-40 minutes. Once in Arefu, you can either walk or take a taxi to the lake, which is approximately 5 km away.
Taxi
For a more direct option, consider taking a taxi from Curtea de Arges directly to Lacul Vidraru. This will save you time and is the most convenient method if you are traveling with luggage. The taxi ride will take approximately 40 minutes and typically costs around 100 RON. Ensure to agree on the fare before starting your journey.
