Walking
Begin your journey at the Butare Cathedral, which is located in the heart of Butare. From the cathedral, head south on Avenue du 1er Novembre for about 500 meters until you reach the intersection with Avenue de la Réunification. Turn right onto Avenue de la Réunification and continue straight for about 1 kilometer. You will pass several shops and local eateries along the way. Keep an eye out for the sign indicating the turn-off to the Arboretum, which is on your left. Once you see the sign, take the left turn and follow the dirt path leading directly into the Arboretum of Ruhande. The entrance will be clearly marked.

Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Butare. Start your ride at the National Museum of Rwanda, located near the city center. From the museum, head east on Avenue du 1er Novembre. After about 1 kilometer, turn right onto Avenue de la Réunification. Continue straight for another 1 kilometer, keeping an eye out for the sign for the Arboretum of Ruhande on your left. Once you see the sign, make a left turn onto the dirt path that leads to the entrance of the Arboretum.

To reach the Arboretum of Ruhande by moto-taxi, find a moto-taxi stand near the Butare Cathedral. Inform the driver that you want to go to the Arboretum of Ruhande. The ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes. The driver will take you along Avenue du 1er Novembre, then turn onto Avenue de la Réunification. He will drop you off at the entrance of the Arboretum of Ruhande, which is easily recognizable.
