Getting There

  • Walking

    Start from the center of Butare, specifically from the main roundabout at Avenue de la Révolution. Head south on Avenue de la Révolution and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Avenue du 1er Novembre. Turn right onto Avenue du 1er Novembre and walk for about 500 meters. You should see the large sign for the National Museum of Rwanda on your left. Continue walking straight until you reach the next intersection. At this point, you will be on Avenue de l'Université. Continue walking straight, and keep an eye out for local landmarks like the University of Rwanda campus to your left. After approximately 1 kilometer, you will reach a small junction. At this junction, turn left onto a smaller road. Follow this road, and after about 300 meters, you will see the entrance to Bungwe Queen's Park/MSC IBISUMIZI on your right. The park should be easily recognizable by its greenery and welcoming entrance.

    If you have rented a bicycle, begin your journey from the Butare central market area. Head towards Avenue de la Révolution and cycle south. After about 1 kilometer, you will reach the intersection with Avenue du 1er Novembre. Turn right here and continue cycling for another 500 meters. Keep an eye on your left side for the National Museum of Rwanda. After passing the museum, continue straight onto Avenue de l'Université. You will cycle along this road for approximately 1 kilometer until you come to a small junction.
