Walking
Starting from the center of Butare (also known as Huye), head south on Avenue de la Révolution. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Avenue du 1er Novembre. Cross the intersection and continue onto Avenue de l'Université. After approximately 500 meters, you will see signs indicating the direction to Nyanza. Follow these signs as the road will start to curve towards the right. Continue for another 2 kilometers until you arrive at the Nyanza Genocide Memorial, which will be located on your left.

Public Transport
From the main bus station in Butare, you can take a moto-taxi (motorcycle taxi) to Nyanza Genocide Memorial. Make sure to tell the driver your destination clearly. The ride takes about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. The driver will likely know the best route, but can follow the main road towards Nyanza. You will arrive directly at the memorial, and the fare should be negotiated before you start your journey.

If you have access to a bicycle, you can ride from Butare to Nyanza. Start by heading south on Avenue de la Révolution and follow the same route as walking. Bicycling can be quicker, and you will enjoy the scenery along the way. The total distance is around 4 kilometers, and it should take approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on your pace.
