Private Car
From Byumba, head northwest on the main road towards Ruhengeri. Continue for about 30 kilometers until you reach the junction leading to Ruhengeri. Take a left turn at the junction. After about 5 kilometers, you will see a sign for Agasumo ka Mukinga waterfalls. Turn right and follow the dirt road for approximately 2 kilometers. There is a small parking area near the waterfalls where you can leave your car.
Public Transportation (Minibus)
From the Byumba bus station, take a minibus heading towards Ruhengeri. The journey takes about 45 minutes and costs around 500 Rwandan Francs. Once you arrive in Ruhengeri, look for a motorcycle taxi (moto) stand. Negotiate a fare (approximately 2000 Rwandan Francs) for a ride to Agasumo ka Mukinga waterfalls. The ride will take about 15 minutes. Make sure to inform the driver of your destination.
Walking from Parking Area
If you arrive by car or motorcycle taxi, you will need to walk about 10 minutes from the parking area to reach the waterfalls. Follow the marked path that leads through the lush vegetation. Be cautious of the terrain, as it can be uneven and slippery. Enjoy the scenic views along the way!
