Getting There

• Car

  From Byumba, head south on the main road (RN3) towards Kigali. After approximately 15 kilometers, look for a sign pointing towards Muyumba. Turn left onto the local road and continue for about 10 kilometers. The road will become more rural, and you may need to navigate through some villages. Follow the signs indicating Muyumba, and keep an eye out for local landmarks to ensure you're on the right path. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for dirt roads, as some areas may be less maintained.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Muyumba by public transport, start at the Byumba bus station. Look for a 'moto' taxi or a shared taxi (typically referred to as 'taxi-brousse') heading towards Kigali. Inform the driver that you want to stop at Muyumba. The fare should be around 500 RWF (Rwandan Francs). The journey will take approximately 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the nearest point to Muyumba, you may need to walk or hire a local moto taxi to take you the remaining distance into Muyumba.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Byumba and ride to Muyumba. Start by taking the main road (RN3) south out of Byumba. The ride will be around 25 kilometers and should take about 2-3 hours depending on your fitness level. Be cautious of traffic and road conditions. Once you reach the area of Muyumba, you can navigate through the local roads to reach your destination. It's advisable to bring water and snacks, as there may not be many stops along the way.
