Car
From Byumba, head south on the main road (RN4) towards Kayumba. After approximately 11 kilometers, turn left onto the road leading to Ntarama. Continue straight for about 3 kilometers until you reach the Ntarama Genocide Memorial, which will be on your right. Make sure to look for the signs indicating the memorial.
Public Transportation
Start at the Byumba bus station and board a bus heading to Kayumba. The bus fare is typically around 500 RWF. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Kayumba, ask a local for directions to the Ntarama Genocide Memorial, which is about 3 kilometers from the bus drop-off point. You can either walk or hire a motorcycle taxi (commonly known as 'moto') for around 1000 RWF to take you directly to the memorial.
Walking from Kayumba
If you prefer to walk from Kayumba after taking a bus, exit the bus and head towards the main road. Walk straight for about 3 kilometers on the road leading to Ntarama. Keep to the left side of the road for safety and look out for signs directing you to the memorial. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes as the walk might take around 40-50 minutes.
