If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Cyangugu. Head northwest on Avenue de l'Indépendance towards the main road. Continue straight until you reach the junction with the Nyeru Road (Route Nationale 1). Turn left onto Nyeru Road and follow it for about 18 kilometers. You will see signs for Kibuye. Once you reach Kibuye, look for signs leading to the Sunset View Point, which is located off an unnamed road. The location coordinates are approximately -2.054036, 29.346242. Parking might be available near the viewpoint.
Public Transportation
To reach the Sunset View Point using public transportation, you can take a moto-taxi or a shared taxi from Cyangugu to Kibuye. Head to the main taxi station in Cyangugu, where you can find shared taxis heading to Kibuye. The fare is typically around 1,000 Rwandan Francs. Once you arrive in Kibuye, you can either walk to the viewpoint if you're feeling adventurous (about a 30-minute walk) or negotiate a moto-taxi to take you directly to the Sunset View Point on the unnamed road. The fare for the moto-taxi should be around 2,000 Rwandan Francs depending on your negotiation skills.
Walking
If you prefer to walk from the center of Kibuye, head towards the lakefront area, following the shore until you find the road leading up to the viewpoint. The walk is approximately 2 kilometers and will take about 30-40 minutes. Make sure to wear good walking shoes and carry water, as the last part of the route is a bit steep, but the views are worth the effort.
