Getting There

Car

If you're traveling by car, start your journey from the town of Kayonza. Head east on the RN3 road. After approximately 30 kilometers, you will reach the entrance to Akagera National Park. Follow the signs to the park entrance and pay the entrance fee, which is about $40 for international tourists. Once inside the park, continue driving for about 20 kilometers, following the designated park roads until you see the signs for Karenge Bush Camp.
Public Transportation

To use public transportation, first take a bus from Kayonza to the town of Kabarondo. The bus fare is about 500 Rwandan Francs. Once in Kabarondo, you can hire a motorcycle taxi (moto) to take you to the entrance of Akagera National Park. The moto ride will cost around 2000 Rwandan Francs. Once you reach the park entrance, you will need to pay the entrance fee of approximately $40 for international visitors. After entering the park, you can either walk to Karenge Bush Camp or arrange for a park ranger to escort you, which may incur an additional fee.
