Car
If you are driving to the King's Palace Museum, start from the center of Gikongoro. Head southwest on the main road towards Nyanza. Continue straight for approximately 25 kilometers until you reach the junction with Nyanza Rd. Turn left onto Nyanza Rd and drive for another 5 kilometers. The museum will be on your right. Be sure to look for signs as you approach. Parking is available on-site.
Public Transportation
To reach the King's Palace Museum via public transportation, first find a local bus or taxi that operates along the Gikongoro to Nyanza route. The bus station is located in the center of Gikongoro. Board a bus heading towards Nyanza and inform the driver or conductor that you are going to the King's Palace Museum. The fare is approximately RWF 1,000. After about 30 minutes of travel, get off at the Nyanza Rd stop. From there, it will be a short walk (about 10 minutes) to the museum, located just a few kilometers down the road on the right.
Bicycle
If you prefer to cycle, rent a bicycle from a local shop in Gikongoro. Start by heading southwest on the main road towards Nyanza. This route is approximately 30 kilometers and will take around 2 hours, depending on your cycling speed. Follow the same directions as for driving, turning left onto Nyanza Rd and continuing for another 5 kilometers until you reach the museum on your right.
Walking
Walking to the King's Palace Museum from Gikongoro is feasible but requires good physical condition due to the distance. Start by heading southwest on the main road towards Nyanza. It is roughly a 30-kilometer walk which could take around 6 hours. Follow the same road directions, and upon reaching Nyanza Rd, turn left and walk about 5 kilometers until you arrive at the museum, which will be on your right.
