Car
From Gitarama, head north on the RN1 road towards Kigali. Continue on RN1 for approximately 40 kilometers until you reach the town of Musanze (formerly known as Ruhengeri). Once in Musanze, follow the signs to Volcanoes National Park which will direct you to the park headquarters located just outside of the town. Expect to pay a small toll fee on the road to Musanze, and ensure you have cash available for any park entry fees.

Public Transportation (Minibus)
To take a minibus from Gitarama to Volcanoes National Park Headquarters, go to the main bus station in Gitarama. Look for a minibus heading to Musanze (Ruhengeri). The fare is typically around 1,000 Rwandan Francs. The journey will take about 1.5 hours, depending on traffic. Upon arriving in Musanze, you can either walk or hire a motorcycle taxi (known as 'moto') to the park headquarters, which is a short distance away. The moto fare should be around 500-1,000 Rwandan Francs.

For a more comfortable journey, consider hiring a private taxi from Gitarama to the Volcanoes National Park Headquarters. You can arrange this through your hotel or by calling a local taxi service.
