From Gitarama, head north on the RN1 road towards Kigali. Continue on RN1 for approximately 40 kilometers until you reach the town of Musanze (formerly known as Ruhengeri). Once in Musanze, follow the signs to Volcanoes National Park which will direct you to the park headquarters located just outside of the town. Expect to pay a small toll fee on the road to Musanze, and ensure you have cash available for any park entry fees.

To take a minibus from Gitarama to Volcanoes National Park Headquarters, go to the main bus station in Gitarama. Look for a minibus heading to Musanze (Ruhengeri).
