Car
If you're driving from the center of Gitarama, head northeast on Avenue de la Révolution towards Avenue du Commerce. Continue straight for about 1 km until you reach the junction with RN1. Take a right onto RN1 and drive for approximately 30 km towards Kigali. As you approach Kigali, keep an eye out for signs pointing to Kiyovu. Once in Kiyovu, follow the local signs to the Gorilla Statue, which should be a prominent landmark in the area. Make sure to have some cash on hand for parking fees if applicable.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach the Gorilla Statue using public transport, find a local bus station in Gitarama. Look for a bus heading to Kigali, as this is the main route. The bus ride will take about 1-1.5 hours and typically costs around 1,000 Rwandan Francs. Once you arrive in Kigali, disembark at Nyabugogo Bus Station. From there, you can take a moto-taxi (motorbike taxi) to Kiyovu. The moto-taxi ride will cost around 500-1,000 Rwandan Francs. Inform the driver that you want to go to the Gorilla Statue.
Walking from Local Transport
If you arrive in Kiyovu by moto-taxi, you will be very close to the Gorilla Statue. From the drop-off point, walk towards the main road and follow the signs directing you to the statue. It is a short walk of about 5-10 minutes. The statue is located in a public area and is easily identifiable.
