Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of Karongi, head towards the main road that leads to the lake. Walk along Avenue de la Paix until you reach the Kibuye Church. Continue straight on Avenue de la Paix, which will curve slightly to the left. You will pass local shops and cafes on your way. After about 15 minutes of walking, you will reach the junction near the Kibuye Market. Turn right at the junction onto Unnamed Road, which will lead you closer to the lake. Continue walking for approximately 10 minutes until you see signs for the Sunset View Point, which is located along the lakeshore. Follow the path leading up to the viewpoint, where you can enjoy stunning views of Lake Kivu.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to rent a bicycle, start from the center of Karongi and head towards the lakeshore on Avenue de la Paix. Cycle past the Kibuye Church and continue along Avenue de la Paix. After about 10 minutes, you will reach the junction near Kibuye Market. Turn right onto Unnamed Road and continue cycling for another 5-10 minutes. Look for signs indicating the Sunset View Point. Follow the path leading up to the viewpoint, where you can take a break and enjoy the beautiful sunset over Lake Kivu.

• Boat

  For a unique experience, consider taking a boat ride to the Sunset View Point. Start at the main dock in Karongi, where you can rent a boat or join a group tour. Request to be taken to the Sunset View Point. The boat ride will take approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on the weather and the boat's speed. Once you arrive, you can disembark and follow the short walking path to the viewpoint for a breathtaking view of the sunset over Lake Kivu.
