Getting There

• Walking

  Start from the center of Karongi town, specifically at the Karongi District Office. Head south on Avenue de la Paix towards the lake. Continue straight until you reach the main road, RN10. Turn left onto RN10 and walk along the lakeside path for approximately 1.5 kilometers. You will pass by several local shops and cafes. Keep an eye out for signs that indicate the direction to Gishyita. After about 1.5 kilometers, you'll reach a junction; take the road on your right towards Gishyita. Follow this road for about 3 kilometers until you reach Gishyita center.

• Walking

  Once you are in Gishyita, ask locals for directions to Bisesero, as they will be familiar with the area. From the center, take the road that heads northwest towards Bisesero. This road is dirt and can be steep, so be prepared for a bit of a hike. Walk for about 2 kilometers, and you will see signs indicating Bisesero Memorial. Follow these signs; the path will take you through beautiful scenery. Bisesero is located at the coordinates R8CR+9FV, which is a notable landmark for visitors.

• Bicycle Rental

  If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Karongi. Start from Karongi town and head south along Avenue de la Paix, then join RN10. Cycle towards Gishyita, which is about 5 kilometers away. Once in Gishyita, follow the same route as described for walking. The bike ride can be a bit challenging due to hills, so ensure you are comfortable with cycling in hilly terrain.
