Getting There

  • Bicycle

    If you are renting a bicycle in Karongi, start at the main market area in Karongi town. Head south on Avenue de la Paix towards the lakefront. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit to continue on Avenue de l’Indépendance. Follow this road for about 1.5 km until you see signs for Kivu Lodge. Turn right onto a smaller road that leads to V734+FPV. The lodge will be on your left after a short ride.

  • Walking

    From the center of Karongi, walk towards the lakefront. Follow the path along the lake until you reach the main road (Avenue de la Paix). Turn left and walk along this road for about 1.5 km. When you reach the roundabout, take the second exit onto Avenue de l’Indépendance. Walk straight until you see a sign for Kivu Lodge. Turn right onto V734+FPV, and the lodge will be on your left.

  • Motorbike Taxi (Moto)

    To take a moto from Karongi, go to the main moto taxi stand near the market. Tell the driver you want to go to Kivu Lodge in Rwamatamu. The driver will take you along Avenue de la Paix and then Avenue de l’Indépendance. They will turn right onto V734+FPV. The ride should take about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic.
