Getting There

• Walking

  Start at the center of Karongi, near the Karongi market. Head north on Avenue de la Paix until you reach the junction with Avenue de l'Enseignement. Turn left onto Avenue de l'Enseignement and continue walking for about 1 kilometer. You will pass by local shops and cafes, so it's a great chance to engage with the local culture. Continue straight until you reach the shores of Lake Kivu. At the lakeside, turn right and walk along the waterfront for another 2 kilometers. You will see signs directing you towards Gisenyi. Keep walking until you reach the Kivu Belt Destination, which will be on your left at 8733+HX, Gisenyi.

  If you prefer biking, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Karongi. Start at the main market and head north on Avenue de la Paix. After about 1 kilometer, turn left onto Avenue de l'Enseignement. Ride straight for approximately 2 kilometers until you reach the lakeside. Once you reach Lake Kivu, turn right and cycle along the waterfront for about 3 kilometers. Look for the Kivu Belt Destination on your left at the address 8733+HX, Gisenyi.   To take a motorcycle taxi, find a designated moto taxi stand near the Karongi market. Inform the driver that you want to go to Kivu Belt Destination at 8733+HX, Gisenyi.
