Car
To drive from Kibungo to Kigali, start by heading northwest on the main road towards the Rwandan capital. The primary route is the RN3, which is well-marked. Follow the RN3 for approximately 70 kilometers. You'll pass through beautiful countryside and small towns. Look out for signs indicating Kigali as you approach the city. Once you reach the outskirts of Kigali, follow the road signs to the city center. Parking is available in various locations throughout the city, but be prepared to pay a parking fee, which typically ranges from 500 to 1000 Rwandan Francs.
Public Transportation (Minibus)
To travel from Kibungo to Kigali using public transportation, head to the local bus station in Kibungo. Look for a minibus (known locally as a 'taxi') heading to Kigali. The fare is approximately 1000 to 1500 Rwandan Francs per person. The journey will take about 2 to 3 hours depending on traffic. Once you board, let the driver know that you are heading to Kigali. The minibus will drop you off at one of the main bus stations in Kigali, such as Nyabugogo. From there, you can easily access taxis or local buses to your final destination within the city.
Taxi
If you prefer a more comfortable and direct journey, you can hire a taxi from Kibungo to Kigali. It’s recommended to negotiate the fare before starting your trip; expect to pay around 30,000 to 40,000 Rwandan Francs for the trip. The taxi driver will take the RN3 route directly to Kigali, and it should take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. This option is ideal for groups or travelers with heavy luggage.
