Breathtaking Views at the Sunset View Point

Getting There

• Walking

  Start from the main waterfront area of Kibuye, where you'll find the local markets and restaurants. Head southwest along the lakeshore road (Avenue du Lac), enjoying the views of Lake Kivu. After approximately 1 kilometer, you will reach a fork. Take the left path that leads uphill. Continue walking for another 500 meters until you reach a small path on your right leading into a wooded area. Follow this path for about 300 meters, and you will arrive at the Sunset View Point.

• Bicycle

  Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Kibuye. Begin your journey at the lakeside near the main pier. Cycle south along the lakeside road (Avenue du Lac) for about 1 kilometer. When you reach the fork in the road, take the left path that leads uphill. Continue cycling for about 500 meters, then look for a small trail on your right that takes you into the woods. Follow this trail for approximately 300 meters, and you will find the Sunset View Point.

• Motorbike Taxi (Motos)

  Head to the main moto taxi stand in Kibuye, which is usually located near the town center or the market area. Inform the driver that you want to go to Sunset View Point. They will take you along the lakeshore road, and after about 5 minutes, you'll reach the fork in the road. The driver will take the left path uphill. Continue your ride for another 5 minutes until you reach a dirt path on the right leading into the woods. The driver will drop you off at the entrance of the path, and it’s a short walk of about 300 meters to the viewpoint.
